Matanuska Thunder Fuck lives up to its name

I have to admit, I am always a bit skeptical of any strain that has a bigger than life name. In my experience strains that have names like "Super Bodacious RipCord Slam"(if that is a strain I am going to laugh my head off) don't really live up to what you would expect from high-quality cannabis. For this reason, I am pleasantly surprised when a strain does earn the moniker it bears, and in the case of Matanuska Thunder Fuck (MTF) I am quite happy. While it may not be much to look at, it hides a pretty potent high inside the squat little nuggets. I won't say this is the best strain I have ever smoked, but I definitely would say its one of the better Sativa's out there.

Flavor 6:

MTF is not going to blow you away with the flavor. It has a very earthy taste with some peppery highlights. The flavor isn't unpleasant, but it's not anything I would write home about either. If you are someone who really enjoys flavor sampling, MTF isn't going to do much for you.

Onset 9:

I absolutely loved the onset of MTF. It was a nice climb into a pretty intense high. If I had to pinpoint the way I think a Sativa should hit you, MTF delivers that almost perfectly. I could tell as the onset came this was going to be a good ride. While I am someone that likes an intense high, if you are someone that likes a more mellow buzz, you may find MTF is a bit too much for you. However, if like me, you enjoy a fast and steady climb, then you will probably find this hits the mark pretty well.

Experience 9:

I haven't really enjoyed a strain this way since the last time I had Bruce Banner. If you are looking for an intense cerebral high with some pretty decent body effects, I would suggest MTF. However, it is a very intense strain and I wouldn't recommend this if you are looking to feel relaxed and calm. MTF is not the kind of but you want to grab for a chill evening at home, it's going to amp you up a bit. I happen to like feeling a bit amped up, but I can see where this might make some people a little too 'edgy'.

Overall Score: 8.5

I am really impressed with MTF like I said in the title of this post, it really does live up to its name. I love the strong Sativa effect, and this is going to be a strain I keep my eye out for in the future. While I don't know if I would compare it to Bruce Banner (my current high mark) I would compare it to some of my other favorites such as Jilly Bean. If there is one thing that I feel Matanuska Thunder Fuck is missing is that it really doesn't have a lot of flavors and the whole experience can be a little too intense if you aren't careful how much you imbibe.

Gellato #33

Had a chance to light up some of this strain today and have to say I really enjoy it. Gelato #33 has what I would best describe as a "solid" effect. It's elevating, a bit euphoric and keeps you on a fairly pleasant place between the energy of a Sativa and the calming effect of an Indica. I've been thinking of a way to create a "scale" for things, and this post I'm going to kind of elaborate on that concept a bit. I will discuss the various traits of a strain giving each a score, then at the end I will give it a final score.

Flavor- 7:

The most striking part of this strain taste is how smooth it is. Where some strains seem to almost compete with the different flavors, Gelatto #33 combines the herbal, citrus, and spicey undertones into a very pleasant flavor that feels more solid and whole. If you are someone that is heavily into the flavor of a strain this one may not have enough punch to it, but if you enjoy a smooth flavor that doesn't overwhelm you with any particular aspect, then you will like this strain. My overall score for the flavor of this strain is a 7, it's a solid flavor but nothing special.

Onset -8:

The onset of the high of Gelatto #33 is smooth and solid. It doesn't hit you to fast, but also doesn't creep up on you. If you are someone who tends to like a fast and hard onset, this strain is going to be a bit underwhelming, and if you are someone that likes a long-lasting creep, it's not going to be flipping your button. However, if you like a steady onset that leaves you with a pretty stead effect, this strain is going to give you that.

Experience -8:

The best way to describe the full experience of Gelatto #33 is solid. In fact that is really what I would consider the defining factor of this particular strain, it's solid. The experience is one of a very mellow elevation, that is ideal for a chill evening playing a video game or even watching a movie. I wouldn't recommend this for a wake and bake, nor would I recommend this for going to sleep. However, what I would recommend this for is the first bowl after a long day of work.

Overall Score - 7.5

I really do enjoy the solid high this strain gives me, but it isn't anything special. That is both what really works for Gelatto #33 and what holds it back. If I am in the mood for a chill night where I don't feel like doing a lot, this stain is absolutely perfect. However, if I am in a mood to do things, which is often the case, this strain leans a bit to heavy toward Indica for me to really get into. In the end, it's a solid strain that doesn't disappoint you, but it also isn't going to wow you.
